I seem to recall that a version of pdp-8 _Fortran_ implemented arrays
as associative objects -- i.e., 'dimension' statements were ignored!
[Hmmn, are you sure that wasn't Focal? Actually, I dimly recall the same
thing, RAM was so tight that they made all arrays sparse. -John]
