To really grasp these concepts, and the what really distinguishes the
grammer families, you have to gain some experience. So I will not attempt
to give any details - some were provieded by others.
One resuurce that you may find useful (but it may also be an overkill) is
http://www.cs.vu.nl/~dick/PTAPG.html which contains an online book about
parsing.
