As suggested by the message you quoted, any comments about the quality
of G++, unless they are talking about the egcs releases, are
completely outdated. Please do not malign the G++ group based on a
2-year old version, which you seem to be doing. Note nobody is
maintaining the C++ front-end in gcc-2.8.x. You really need to get
egcs. You may find that is of similar quality to Sun's or the KAI
compiler. (While I have heard good things about the KAI compiler, C++
in egcs is also very good.)
