Dave Wortmann's group at U.Toronto did a lot of work on
parallelization of compilers and found that the problem was *hard*,
not from a theoretical point of view but at the system level. They had
a paper in some PLDI a couple of years ago (sorry not to be more
specific).
Otherwise there has been quite some work on the parallelization of
attribute evaluators that you might find relevant. I wrote a survey about
this five years ago :
