The INRIA Rennes research unit is opening a position for a software
engineer or a post-doc on a fixed-term contract.


      * Type of position: software engineer (PhD or MSc) or post-doc
      * Type of the contract: fixed-term contract
      * Duration: 12 to 15 months (could be extended for post-docs)
      * Starting date: as soon as possible
      * Location: Compose project, IRISA/INRIA Rennes (France)


      * Description:
          Development of a partial evaluator for Java programs.


      * Context:
          The successful applicant will work in the Compose group, in connection
          with an industrial partner in the domain of telecommunications. This
          partner will provide concrete applications.


      * Sought expertise:
          Program analyses and transformations, implementation of programming
          languages, object-oriented languages issues.


      * Technical knowledge:
          The applicant must be experienced in software development with C and
          with an object-oriented language. Knowledge of Java, ML, and CORBA is
          an asset.


      * Application deadline:
          No specific deadline; applications will be reviewed as they arrive

We are looking for a developer to further improve the GNU Prolog
system and its diffusion. This position is available for a 6 months
period starting as soon as possible.


Main tasks to achieve include:


      - public CVS repository readable (for all)/writable (for contributors).
      - FAQ, mail archive,...
      - Prolog and constraint programming tutorial.
      - porting to other architectures.
      - graphical toolkit.


Competences required:


      - PhD in computer science.
      - knowledge of Prolog and constraint programming.
      - C programming under Unix/Linux.
      - compilation techniques.
      - system tools (CVS, mailing list,...).


This person will work within the Loco team (http://loco.inria.fr) at
INRIA Rocquencourt. Geographically, INRIA Rocquencourt is situated in
the west suburb of Paris (FRANCE)

offered is around 11500 french francs / month (1750 euros).
