The C compiler in 5th Edition UNIX and onwards (i.e 1975 onwards) was
written in C code itself. The source code is still covered by the respective
UNIX source licenses, which are currently held by SCO.

Anyone interested in persuading SCO to make source to these old Unixes
(and thus the compilers) cheaply available should look at the PUPS
web page at http://minnie.cs.adfa.oz.au/PUPS/, and sign the petition.

Cheers,
Warren
