Today, January 3rd, marks the 13th anniversary of comp.compilers,
which sent out its first message as mod.compilers on January 3, 1986.
This makes it one of the older active moderated newsgroups, and one of
the oldest still run by the original moderator.

All of the postings since 1986 are on-line with a simple full-text
search engine in the archives at http://www.iecc.com/compilers. The
archives are now about 54 MB of text, 14,810 messages.

As far as I can tell, this newsgroup has for many years been by far
the world's most widely read compilers publication, with probably
200,000 readers world-wide. The closest contender is the ACM SIGPLAN
Notices with about 25,000 copies published.
