which is the proceedings of the second History of Programmng Languages
Conference [ HOPL II ] (I believe HOPL I proceedings are out of print).


Also, if you can access the ACM Digital Library, a search on "history"
turns up a lot of items, a fair number of which are relevant.


Finally, CACM interviews Turing Award recipients and publishes the
interviews along with the recipient's Lecture. These interviews tend to
focus on the history associated with the recipients work. A search for
"frenkel" (the interviewer)
and "turing award" will turn up on-line references.
