Check conference proceedings such as PLDI (Programming Languages
Design and Implementation, which may be under SIGPLAN Notices in
your library). Often they have student papers. You can judge which
schools have good programs in the areas which interest you
by the quality of the papers. Contact the faculty advisor
at that school to ensure that he/she intends to remain there and
is willing to accept new students.
