In case anyone's interested, Release 2 of SoftFloat is now free for the
taking at:
http://HTTP.CS.Berkeley.EDU/~jhauser/arithmetic
SoftFloat is a high-quality software implementation of floating-point
conforming to the IEC/IEEE Standard for Floating-point Arithmetic.
Release 2 now has single, double, extended double (80-bit), and
quadruple (128-bit) precisions, all written in standard C. There's
also a program called TestFloat for testing a computer's IEEE
floating-point. See the Web page for details.
