The Open Group Research Institute is recruiting for its Java compiler
group software engineers to be located in for its Grenoble
lab. (France)
The Open Group Research Institute
The Open Group RI (TOGRI) is an international research institute with
laboratories in Cambridge, MA and Grenoble, FR. The RI receives
support from government and industry to investigate fundamental
software technology needed to improve the scalability, portability,
usability, and interoperability of computer systems.

The Project
TOGRI is currently developing a native compiler for the Java language.
Software engineers are required to work on design, development and
testing of the TurboJ compiler. In addition to writing the compiler
translators it will be necessary to develop documentation, tests and
performance measurements tools

The Candidates
Candidates should have an MS degree or equivalent and at least five
years of experience in relevant areas, in particular in the area of
intermediate languages and code optimization: loop invariant removal,
type inference, constant propagation, expression reduction, register
allocation, etc.
Knowledge of object oriented systems, familiarity with a range of
processor architectures and the ability to work both independently and
as part of a team is required.
Experience with partial evaluation and garbage collection would be an
advantage but is not essential. The "working language" (email,
meetings, reports, presentations) at Grenoble RI lab is English.
