First time around: I had a home built GI 1600 based machine with no
software. A lisp interpreter seemed the smallest thing to write that
would give me something usable.
Second time around: I was one of the first three people outside Sun to
port NeWS to other hardware. I took one look at James Gosling's
interpreter and though `Hey, I can do better than this' :-).
Third time around: It was that or emigrate in search of a job....
