The subject of compiling seems to be well covered. But where do I find
information about assemblers. There are plenty of code generating
problems - specially for the new CPU's which say that the assembler
does all the necessary code optimizations.

[I can't see there's any particular issues unique to assemblers here.
The scheduling stuff is the same as for a compiler that generates code
directly. -John]
