This is a digest of ``help wanted'' and ``position available'' messages
received at comp.compilers during the preceding week. Messages must
advertise a position having something to do with compilers and must also
conform to the guidelines periodically posted in misc.jobs.offered.
Positions that remain open may be re-advertised once a month. To respond

Subject: SYNOPSYS Job Openings, Silicon Valley

Silicon Architects of Synopsys provides technology and services to
ASIC manufacturers and system designers of deep submicron technology
and high-performance ICs, to streamline the creation and improve the
efficiency of chip designs. Synopsys CBA (Cell Based Array Technology)
provides standard cell density, performance and power, while retaining
all the development time and cost advantages of gate arrays. CBA
promotes ease-of-design for complex chips. It offers a unique
structure, consisting of an optimal mix of transistor sizes in compute
and drive cells, a layout that improves place and route utilization,
and an innovative partitioning of logic computation and signal drive
circuitry. Memories, datapaths and other commonly used functions can
be implemented very efficiently in CBA.

Synopsys' CBA architecture makes use of two building block elements, a
drive cell and a compute cell. All remaining library elements make use
of combinations of these two cells. Therefore, customization of the
building block elements for a particular process is all that is
required prior to automated regeneration of all remaining library
elements. Through a combination of industry-standard and proprietary
tools, Synopsys can automatically generate and validate new libraries
quickly without sacrificing performance or area. We have the
following openings in our group:

DATAPATH S/W MGR

Lead a s/w eng. team in product development and delivery for a new
product, "DPA," used for archtiecture exploration and synthesis of
high performance datapaths required in areas such as DSP, multimedia,
and communications. Hire/develop a staff of software engineers in
delivering leading edge solutions in datapath compiliation, and
supporting areas such as GUI, synthesis, compilation, and
cell-technology modeling. Assist the development effort by hands-on
contributions in architecture and coding in C/C++/Unix.

DATAPATH S/W ENGINEERS

(#1)-Define, architect, and develop future enhancements. Assist in
performance/perf. tuning to provide quality results as well as in the
development and qualification of procedures. 5+ yrs. EDA exp building
or using CAD/CAE products ( 2+ in C++.) Thorough familiarity with
UNIX dev. envir. Verilog/VHDL, s/w or circuit compilers, and
exp. building/using s/w dev. environments all a plus. BSEE (MS pref.)
or equiv.

(#2)-Architecture and logic design of high level blocks usingDatapath
Architect. Responsible for design, simulation, optimization, and
verification of blocks used in floating point, video, communication,
and graphics systems. Should have used CAD and verification
tools. Knowledge of design rules. UNIX pref. MS/equiv. w/3+ yrs.
design exp. or PhD. w/ related proj. exper.
