The Small C compiler (J.E. Hendrix) was originally written for and
later ported to other small environments. It is non optimizing,
subset of C but just enought to compile itself. I'm sure the sources
are available somewhere on the net.
It mey not meet your requirements but certainly worth mentioning.

there are lots of copies in libraries. -John]
