Subject: Compiler Engineer Opportunities at DEC - Seattle Area


Digital Equipment Corporation's software development facility located in
Bellevue, WA is looking to fill two positions requiring familiarity with
compilers.


Position #1


We are looking for someone with several years of experience developing
compiler back ends. You should be familiar with implementation or
design issues concerning semantic analysis, scalar optimizations and
register allocation. Ideally, you would be acquainted with the broader
relationship of compilers to operating systems, run-time libraries and
to other language tools, such as debuggers. The position requires the
ability to maintain, as well as develop, compiler code.


Position #2


We are looking for someone to measure compiler performance and
suggest improvements. Reading compiled code is one aspect of the job,
and benchmarking experience would be helpful. You should also be
able to identify compiler challenges by monitoring third-party codes
and the operating system. A major aspect of the job is active comparison
against performance of competitors' products.
