Looking for Installation tool (Installation API kit)
that will enable an automatic software loading/installation.
for SOLARIS 2.5 (Unix) on Sparc-20/Ultra-1 Sun machines.

What is the problem?
---------------------

Installing OS, Informix, and many other packages and softwares on a
machine requires many manual steps. This include things like
formatting/partitioning hard drives, installing packages, patches,
configuring it, loading upgrades to it, etc...

All in all a messy, long and laborious procedure. It often has
operator errors and leads to things like a long cycle and often
creates problems due to some operator error which may not become
visible till much later.

This also means that install procedure is not run too many times and
unexpected conditions sometimes lead to strange problems.

What kind of solution we are looking for ?
------------------------------------------

We need to automate it all. It involve using many things like loading
engines, install GUIs and load scripts (in scripting languages like
expect, perl and shell).

A tool that should supply us with more deterministic and easy
procedure which affords to do the same installs as many times as
required (during testing).

We can start install one evening and find installed and configured
machine next morning!
