I can faintly remember an offer for an PD Algol68 compiler for the Sun
3 architecture not too many years ago. I believe it was posted to
comp.compilers by Dick Grune, but certainly one of the Amsterdam
folks.
My hazy memory clears a bit further: it may be the case that the
system required a code generator which was "generally free to
universities" or some such.
