Actually, there's a company in Minneapolis called Xinotech Research which has
had an editor out there for some years now that can do structure editing and
incremental checking for various languages (you can plug in a new language
definition and no new code needs to be written.) They already support all
the mainstream languages. The product is called The Xinotech Composer.
Disclaimer: I spent a few weeks at Xinotech after I graduated from high
school in Norway, many years ago.
