LitServer:
A Mailserver for Bibliographic References
in Computer Science
By sending a mail to the address of the mailserver
(bibserv@ira.uka.de) anyone can search a bibliographic database for
references to literature in various fields of Computer Science.
The search modus is word based and allows to search in certain fields
(such as author, title, year, etc.). Furthermore logical combination
(and, or, not) of search criteria are possible.
Found references are sent back to the client. Reference format,
compression, encoding and maximum mail size can be controlled by the
client to some extent.
User's Manual
=============
The User's Manual for the LitServer can be obtained by sending a mail
containing only the line
help
in the body of the mail to bibserv@ira.uka.de or by accessing it more
conveniently with any WWW client (e.g. Mosaic) using any of the

The database of references searchable with the LitServer is a superset
of the collection of bibliographies available
via FTP: ftp.ira.uka.de:pub/bibliography
via WWW: http://www.ira.uka.de/ftp/ira/bibliography/index.html
The database contains 246,000 references in BibTeX format.
