This is a weekly digest of ``help wanted'' and ``position available''
messages received at comp.compilers. Messages must advertise a position
having something to do with compilers and must also conform to the
guidelines periodically posted in misc.jobs.offered. To submit a message,
mail it to compilers@iecc.cambridge.ma.us.

CODE GENERATION/OPTIMIZATION (MTS)
(Silicon Valley)

Education:
* BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent; MS highly desirable.
* Experience with global register allocators and instruction scheduling.

Required Skills:
* Extensive knowledge of C, Fortran, and UNIX

Additional Skills/Experience Desired:
* Knowledge of Fortran 90 a plus.
* Knowledge of dependence analysis and program transformations based on
    dependence analysis a plus.
* Experience with vector and parallel machines desirable.

Initially, will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the code
generator and optimizer for vector multiprocessor machines. The Fortran
and C compilers are advanced systems employing state of the art dependence
analysis and optimization techniques to aggressively optimize programs for
parallel, vector, and scalar hardware, and the optimization techniques
utilized in the backend are enhanced with knowledge provided by the
dependence analysis. As a result, even the candidate with a strong
background will most likely have a significant amount to learn about the
interactions of the vectorizer and the optimization phases of these
compilers. It is expected that this position will eventually turn into a
development position for the programming environment for new parallel
machines.

              * * Minimum 2 years on-the-job experience required **
No new or recent graduates, please!

US or Canadian Citizenship required, or US Permanent
Residency. We are unable to assist persons requiring H-1 or F-1 Visas.

OPTIMIZATION/PROGRAMMING ENVIRONMENT (MTS)
(Silicon Valley)

Education and Experience:
* Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge of dependence analysis, interprocedural analysis, and program
transformation techniques required.

Required Skills:
* Extensive knowledge of C, Fortran, and UNIX.
* Good programming skills.

Responsibilities:
Will develop a sophisticated programming environment for parallel machines
with the primary aim of enhancing optimization by use of interprocedural
and interactive information. This position is responsible for developing
and implementing the strategy for interprocedural analysis, and for tying
the information gathered from that strategy into the existing framework
for uncovering parallelism. Since there are a number of useful tools that
can be built based on interprocedural analysis (for instance, a program
browser or partial profiler based on the call graph), this position will
also be responsible for developing tools along these lines.
