Hi,

We are looking at a cross-development environment entailing compiling on
Sparcstations and running on 68040s. The compilers of interest are
Microtec Research Inc., Greenhills, and GCC. We would be greatly
interested in any recent benchmarks of executable run times, compile time,
and code size, as well as any experiences of bugs, or problems. The main
reason to look at MRI and Greenhills is that their source debuggers are
supported by HP emulators. HP is currently the only one with a 68040
emulator. A related question is does anyone know of a utility that would
translate GCC output to the IEEE-695 format that the Microtec Research
compiler generates for use by the emulator ?

The more specific the better. You can email me at <miklg@acuson.com> or
post as suits you.

Thanks very much,
Michael Goldman
