Summary: What are the drawbacks to compiling procedural languages on a dataflow machine

I'm looking for some information or references on programming dataflow
machines. Any specific literature or references relating to the
following topics would be greatly appreciated.

-What are the drawbacks to compiling a procedural language versus a functional
  language on a dataflow machine?

-What are the differences in dataflow graphs used for code optimization and
dataflow graphs used for scheduling instructions on dataflow machines?

-Has anyone written a compiler for a procedural language (such as C or pascal)
on a dataflow machine? (If so, what language and what machine?)

-Who is currently doing work on dataflow architectures?

Any respones receive my greatest thanks.
