The University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, recently installed
an IBM 3090/180E computer system using the VM/CMS operating system.

Some Fortran applications running on this system require exponent ranges
greater than 10E+78 and less than 10E-78 which is the normal range supported
by the standard IBM Fortran VM compiler. Is anyone aware of any alternative
Fortran compiler which will support exponent ranges greater than/less than
the above.

[Good luck, until IEEE floating point came along most places considered
10 +/- 38 to be plenty of exponent range. -John]
