I have this recollection that Preston Briggs was cited for saying that
FAs were "embarrassingly serial" and hard to parallelize, probably
while he was still at Rice. However, a search of the web doesn't
show me a citation of who said this, what they said, when they said
it, or where. So, I'm hoping that someone on this group has a better
memory than I and in particular a pointer to some place that
establishes that someone once said this that I can credit for it.
