This is true, but lets be consistent. The poster making the positive
remarks about GCC included no numbers or data, either. Why pull up the
second post but not the first?


I think a quick search through back issues of Dr Dobbs etc. would show
that on standards compliance, code optimisation and a number of other
metrics, GCC is not clearly superior to commercial offerings. A quick
