Jones and Lins book, "Garbage Collection: Algorithms for Automatic
Dynamic Memory Management", ISBN 0-471-94148-4.

Covers all the modern single CPU techniques and a few multi-processor
techniques. Also has a good section on GC for uncooperative languages
(and strange environments) and delves somewhat into the workings of
the popular Boehm-Demers-Weiser collector as well as some other lesser
known ones.
