I think the copyright question has already been answered. At one point
IBM marketed a VB clone for OS/2 called, AFAIR "VisualAge for Basic"
(codenamed Bart). They discontinued it because they did a cruddy job of
implementation, not because of any lawsuit from M$. I say go for it.
