The two most popular Java parser generators are JavaCC and ANTLR. I've used
only ANTLR, and found that quite difficult, since the online documentation
(http://www.antlr.org/) is spotty, and there don't seem to be any books
written about it. (If I'm wrong here and anyone can point me to a book,
please do.) The advantages are that it's free and both ANTLR and the
parsers it produces are completely unencumbered.
