There's an out-of-print O'Reilly book called "The Java Virtual
Machine" which deals with the 1.0.2 implementation of the VM.
You might be able to find a used copy ( or perhaps an unsold copy
via Amazon ... )
It discusses JVM assemblers such as Jasmine briefly as well.
