I don't know if this has been announced in this group yet, but the
Watcom C/C++ and Fortran compilers are going Open Source. The
official site for this is www.openwatcom.org. The project is being
headed by Kendall Bennett of Scitech Software.
Watcom was the premiere x86 [DOS/QNX/Windows] C compiler in the
early-mid '90's, and was End-Of-Life'd late last year by Sybase, the
current owners. Late this year/early next year there will be a new
release called OpenWatcom. It will be free for all to use, except for
the proprietary parts such as SDK's and the like.
