Subject: Position in HP's C++ compiler development team in Cupertino

We are looking for a _strong_ candidate to join our team and help us
in developing a C++ compiler that sets performance and compliance
norms in the industry. Good and detailed understanding of the C++
language and compiler development experience would be very helpful but
a strong analytical mind and good S/W engineering skills is more
important for making a difference in this field.

Our team is responsible for developing the compilers for HP's current
(PA) and future (IA64) processors and the areas that we cover include
"correct and efficient" implementation of the full breadth of the C++
language, C++-specific optimizations, design and tuning of the C++
object model for our new platform, and performance characterization,
analysis and tuning of complex C++ applications.

This is an opportunity to work with a capable team in what we consider
to be a fun environment and to help develop and refine a technology
and product that matters; C++ is the dominant development language for
large ("industrial grade") applications and we hope to deliver the
tools that will serve as reference implementation and also make a
positive contribution to the daily working of the programming
community at large.

Subject: Opening in an R&D Language Development project
Date: Tue, 02 May 2000 10:49:24 GMT
Organization: Advantis
Reply-To: vailj@ibm.net

If in anyone know of a compiler developer who is looking for a new
project, please foward the spec below. Thank you.

Specs:

Location: White Plains , New York
Area Code: 914
Rate: Open to negotiation
Contact: John Vail
Email: vailj@ibm.net
Skills: Java, Swing / AWT / JFC, Compiler Dev. , Lex, Yacc, Bison, C++

Job Description:

This project is related to the development of a Bean Markup Language,
which is an XML-based component configuration for writing language
customized for the JavaBean component model. The language will have an
elements that can be used to describe the creation of new beans,
accessing of existing beans, configuration of beans by setting/getting
properties and/or fields, binding of events from some beans to other
beans as well as calling of arbitrary methods in beans.

A compiler will be developed to compile any BML script into
reflection-free Java code. This is that it allows one to capture the
inter-component structure of the application using a first- class
language designed for that purpose and yet be able to compile it into
"regular" Java code with basically no performance loss.

If you wish to send a resume or inquire for more information please
email Mr. John Vail at vailj@ibm.net
