The Department of Computer Sciences at the University of North Texas
invites applications for several anticipated tenure-track faculty
positions starting Fall 1997, subject to budgetary approval. A
Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field is required at the time
of employment. For entry level positions, candidates must provide
evidence of a strong commitment to excellent teaching and research.
Applicants at higher ranks must also demonstrate successful grant
activities as well as leadership in research. Salary is competitive,
commensurate with rank and experience. Currently, the department has a
special need for faculty in applied computer science research,
including telecommunications software and networking, programming
languages, software development, architecture and operating systems,
and multimedia systems.


With over 800 regular faculty and over 26,000 students, one third
graduate students, UNT is the largest state-supported university in
north Texas. Located 40 miles north of the Dallas-Fort Worth
metroplex and surrounded by high-tech industries, Denton combines a
small town atmosphere with the advantages of a major metropolitan
area. Opportunities for consulting and joint research with industry
are excellent.


The department currently consists of 14 faculty, and offers BS/MS/PhD
programs to approximately 400 undergraduate and 100 graduate
majors. Current faculty research interests include algorithms,
architecture, collaborative computing, artificial intelligence, data
compression, databases, distributed computing, operating systems,
parallel computing, scientific computing, mobile computing, and
VLSI. The faculty has external funding from NSF, AFOSR, Army, Texas
Advanced Research and Technology Programs and local industries.

Senior Compiler Engineer:


The successful candidate will have a leading role in C++ compiler
development for the acknowledged industry leader in high performance
compilers. Work includes feature development to maintain leading edge
C++ standard adherence, optimization for performance in object
oriented C++ code, and parallelization of C++. The KAI C++ compiler

Requirements:
PhD, MS or equivalent in Computer Science. Expert C++ programming

Expert C++ Programmer:


This person will work as a member of the industry's leading C++

resolve issues of standard adherence, programming style, and program

Requirements:
BS or equivalent in Computer Science, expert C++ programming skills,
