A new software implementation of IEEE floating-point can now be had
through the Web page

http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~jhauser/float.html

This is a complete, high-quality implementation that should be faster
than any other I am aware of. All functions dictated by the standard
are supported, with the exception of binary-decimal conversions. All
required rounding modes, exception flags, and special values are
supported.

See the Web page for more information.
