EAPLS - a new organization

Over the past few years, ideas have been circulating to try to better
organize the European research community in the area of programming.


An organization, tentatively called EAPLS (European Association for
Programming Languages and Systems), has been in the process of being
established for quite some time now.


This message is to inform you that:


(1) There are WWW pages describing the EAPLS initiative. The URL is:
                  http://www.cwi.nl/~paulk/eapls/


(2) A voting procedure is being organized during the month November
        to determine the name and precise scope of EAPLS. Details can be
        found in the WWW pages.


(3) There is a mailing list for discussing EAPLS related matters:
                eapls@mailbase.ac.uk
        You can join it by sending a message to
                mailbase@mailbase.ac.uk
        containing the following line:
                join eapls <yourfirstname> <yourlastname>


It is important to reach a representative part of the researchers
working in the proposed areas to be covered by EAPLS. If you are
interested, please join the mailing list and participate in the voting
procedure.


We also seek your help and ask you to draw the attention of colleague
researchers to this message.
