available. The project related to this position is "Application of DSP
Synthesis Tools", and will involve porting/implementing and testing
high-level synthesis techniques for DSP applications.


The successful applicant must have:


    U.S Citizenship or permanent U.S. resident status.
    Proficiency in "C" programming.


The successful applicant will also have one or more of the
following:


    Familiarity with parser and compiler optimization techniques.


    Familiarity with high-level synthesis.


    Familiarity with DSP and DSP architectures.


Graduate Students are perferred.

Tartan, Inc. a leader in the creation of compilers and tools to support
the development of real-time embedded systems, has a Runtime Engineer
position available. This is a software engineering position with
significant hardware responsibilities, in an embedded systems team
creating and maintaining development tools and components for real-time
users. The job responsibilities and requirements are listed below.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


Assume overall responsibility for an embedded Ada runtime environment,
including creation and maintenance of the basic language runtime
components, standard package libraries, support package libraries,
communication protocols between host and the target boards, and the
integration of third party components.


Participation in all phases of the software development cycle including
but not limited to designing, developing, testing, integrating, and
documenting product and development components or processes.


Participation in future runtime developments not limited to new targets
processors.


Develop or adapt test suites for the runtime or library environment.


Develop and provide inputs for both internal and external documentation.


REQUIREMENTS


M.S. degree in computer science or Electrical Engineering and some
post-graduate experience, or extensive practical experience.


Must have embedded systems experience.


Minimum of two years assembly language programming experience in either
Motorola 680x0, 1750A, Texas Instruments TMS320CXX DSPs, or Intel 80960K
series processors.


Careful and mature software engineering skills, demonstrated in industry.


Knowledge of a high level programming language such as Ada or 'C'.


Experience with UNIX or VMS operating systems.


Experience/familiarity reading timing sheets, circuit diagrams, and data
sheets. As well as experience/familiarity writing software interfaces
from above mentioned documents.


Industry experience programming hardware devices such as timers, parallel
and serial port interfaces, interrupt controllers, and bus interfaces
(VME, PI, AT).


Knowledge of hardware/software interfaces and programming.


Previous experience programming low level device drivers a plus.


Ability to plan and estimate work, and to work to a schedule.


Ability to debug and analyze non-trivial problems and to write
technical/user documentation.


Previous operating systems experience, experience with Ada, Texas
Instruments TMS320CXX DSPs, and embedded systems applications are all
pluses.
