A friend asked me today what the hot research topics in compilers are.
Aside from compiling for parallel machines, which must be the hottest
topic since it's what I'm interested in :-), what do people think are
the most promising areas for future compiler research?

I do have some opinions, and I'm going to skim some Proceedings before
giving my friend an answer, but I thought it would be interesting to
collect opinions from the net. If people reply by email I'll summarize.
