Subject: Call for expression of interest for Computer Engineering positions in Greece

DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER ENGINEERING & INFORMATICS
UNIVERSITY OF PATRAS, GREECE

CALL FOR EXRESSION OF INTEREST (11/2004)

The Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics of the
University of Patras currently anticipates the creation of new faculty
positions in 2004 in the general area of Software. Areas of primary
interest include Database/Information Systems, Software Engineering
Methodologies, Web Engineering, Internet Technologies and
Network-Centric Systems (especially Peer-to-Peer networking/systems
and Grid computing), Human-Computer Interaction, Compilers and
Programming Systems. We will consider expressions of interest for
positions at all Faculty levels though positions at the tenured levels
will only be for exceptionally qualified candidates. Expressions of
interest from scientists in areas at the interface with other science
and engineering disciplines (especially biomedical and economics) will
also be considered, possibly in coordination with other divisions of
the Department. It must be noted that university appointments are
civil service positions that are governed by the Hellenic Ministry of
Education and that the official language of instruction is
Greek. Citizens of European Union countries whose native language is
not Greek are welcome to apply but must be able to demonstrate good
command of the language.

The Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics of the
University of Patras (www.ceid.upatras.gr <http://www.ceid.upatras.gr>
) was the first to offer Computer Engineering and Informatics
undergraduate and graduate programs of study in Greece and regularly
attracts high-caliber graduate and undergraduate students.
