I have created a mailing list at Yahoo Groups with the following
Discussion of and pertaining to the construction of compilers
targetting the Microsoft Common Language Runtime (CLR). The group is
intended for people who are writing compilers that target the .NET
environment - it is not a help group for general .NET programmers.
The mailing list is likely to be relatively small and low volume due
to its specialised area of interest. My reason for creating it is that
there isn't really a well-defined place for such discussion that I
could find - I've asked a few CLR code generation questions recently
on the Microsoft NNTP groups without getting any responses, so this is
indicative that the people who would be able to answer those kinds of
question aren't reading the dotnet.framework.clr group regularly, so
it perhaps makes sense that a more focussed group should be created.
If you fall into any of the following categories:
o You're planning a .NET compiler
o You're actively writing a compiler targetting the CLR
o You have already written a compiler targetting the CLR
o You're generally interested in the concept
o You're a Microsoft employee who worked on the CLR, one of its
compilers, or who has a general interest in the area.
you will be very welcome!
