                                Call for Papers

                The Prague Stringology Conference'02

                        http://cs.felk.cvut.cz/psc

Prague, Czech Republic, September 23-24, 2002

PSC'02 is a conference about stringology and related areas. It is
annually organized by the Prague Stringology Club which is a research
group at Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Czech
Technical University in Prague.

Stringology is a part of algorithmic research that processes strings
and texts. It has progressed for at least thirty years and developed
into a respected subfield of its own. The last fifteen years have
produced an explosion of new results. This progress is due in part to
human genome effort, to which string algorithms can make an important
contribution.

The topics of the conference include but are not limited to:
  - string matching: exact, approximate, with "don't care" symbols
  - longest common factor, subsequence
  - longest repeated factor, subsequence
  - shortest common superstring, supersequence
  - smallest factor automata, suffix automata, subsequence automata
  - computing repetitions and symmetries in text
  - compression of texts
  - string-to-string correction
  - extension to two-dimensional images
  - extension to trees
  - optimal time-space implementations
  - optimal parallel implementations

PSC'02 was preceded by Prague Stringology Workshops in years 1996-2000
and Prague Stringology Conference in 2001. Each year proceedings are
prepared for the conference. They were published by Czech Technical
University and are also available at WWW pages of PSC. Selected papers
can also be published in a special issue of an international journal.

PSC'02 will be held at the Department of Computer Science and
Engineering of Czech Technical University in Prague on September 23-24,
2002. Acting language will be English.

Authors are cordially invited to submit their full papers (postscript,
10-15 pages, A4 page format) by June 2, 2002. Further details will be
available later at our WWW (http://cs.felk.cvut.cz/psc) pages.
